The 4th Quilt Show held on Saturday, December 5, 2014 was a success. There were over 100 quilts displayed in the sanctuary. The church was decorated for Christmas, adding to the beauty of the event.
This year we honored Dorothy Cyr, a quilter from East Hampton who died in June. We featured many quilts and quilted items that she had made. We received $199 from the sale of some of her quilts. This money will be donated to the children’s mission project, the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp which was one of Dorothy’s favorite charities.
Our show was visited by over 90 people from all over Connecticut. We received many compliments on the beauty of the sanctuary and the delicious lunch that was served. The raffle was well received. There were 252 tickets sold. The winners were: Robert O’Brien, Middletown-the Christmas Irish chain quilt, Jean Anderson, Middletown-the antique coverlet, and Sandra Bell, Cromwell-the Cardinal afghan.
The lunch featured homemade soup, cheese bread and semolina bread made by the bread ministry team and homemade pies. A big THANK YOU is extended to everyone who cooked or baked. Your help made the Haddam Café a success.
We extend a THANK YOU to everyone in the congregation and the members of the Community Quilting group who worked together to make this event beautiful and successful.
A special THANK YOU to Ann Buracchi the secretary who printed all the mailings and helped to prepare the advertising information for the show. Her talents with the computer are greatly appreciated.
