What is Service Sunday?
This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. Service Sunday will take place March 11. Following a thirty-minute worship service we will put feet on our faith and serve the community. We will spread out to participate in several service activities and then return to the church (FCCH) for a meal together. There will be sign up sheets for the various projects which will include:
-
Picking up trash at Haddam Meadows State Park (weather permitting)
-
Setting up and preparing lunch for the group
-
Assisting with tasks at the homes of our church members and the wider community
-
Visiting members at Chesthelm Rehabilitation Center
-
Assembling clean up buckets for CWS
-
Assembling Welcome Baskets for Albert J Solnit Center
Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Christians: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from confidence in God’s abundant grace. If you have an idea for a service activity, it is not too late to add it to the agenda. Invite your family and friends to join us on Service Sunday.
