Our congregations participated in a Reverse Advent Event this past December. Many of us are familiar with an Advent Calendar where for each day of Advent you receive a small token (usually candy!) as you eagerly await the birth of the Christ child. With Reverse Advent, for each day of Advent you give something, in this case either toiletries, food, essential clothing, or household supplies. The bags containing all these items are then brought to church and given to various organizations in our area that help those in need: St. Vincent de Paul of Middletown, The Solnit Center, the Middletown YMCA.
