The 6th Yuletide Quilt Show held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 was a great success. There were over 100 quilts and quilted items displayed in the sanctuary. Some quilts were new and made by the Community Quilt group and other members of the community. Some quilts were very old family treasures that had rather long and interesting stories.
Our show was visited by over 90 people from all over Connecticut. We received many compliments on the beauty of the sanctuary and the delicious lunch that was served.
The lunch featured seven different homemade soups, homemade pies, and semolina white bread and seeded oat bread made by the bread ministry team. A big THANK YOU is extended to everyone who cooked or baked. You helped made the Haddam Café a success.
There was a quilt raffle as a part of the show. A beautiful hand-quilted pillow was won by Toni Merrill, a Christmas Present quilt made by Dena Liedke was won by Jane Fletcher and the first prize quilt, “Butterfly Presents”, was won by Kristen Battistoni. This quilt was made from 24 hand-appliqued butterfly squares that were given to the Community Quilting group, who then assembled and hand-quilted the blanket in the 1930’s style.
We extend a THANK YOU to everyone in the congregation and the members of the Community Quilting group, who worked together to make this event beautiful and successful.
A special THANK YOU to Ann Buracchi, the church secretary, who printed all the mailings and helped to prepare the advertising information for the show. Her talents with the computer are greatly appreciated.
